Meet the Doctors

Husband and wife team- Cory Taylor Allen, DMD and Chelsea Bond Allen, DMD– opened Allen Family Dentistry in October of 2009.

Cory T. Allen, DMD

Dr. Cory Allen was born and raised in Bowling Green, Kentucky, where he graduated as the Valedictorian of Greenwood High School. He was awarded scholarships totaling over one million dollars, including the National Merit Scholarship, Governor’s Scholar Scholarship, and the Fielding Jewell Boles full-tuition scholarship to Vanderbilt University. Dr. Cory graduated from Vanderbilt with a degree in European History and minors in Molecular Biology and Pre-medicine. Dr. Cory then attended the University of Louisville, School of Dentistry, where he served as Class Treasurer all four years.  Since graduating, Dr. Cory has endeavored to expand his dental knowledge completing over 500 hours of continuing education with an emphasis on restoring dental implants and fixed dental prostheses.

Following dental school, Dr. Cory was commissioned in the United States Navy and attended officer training in Newport, RI. He served as a United States Navy Dental Officer from 2005 to 2013, initially completing a hospital-based General Practice Residency in San Diego.  Dr. Cory then served two years on the USS Juneau (LPD-10) homeported in Sasebo, Japan as the sole Dental Officer for 420 sailors and 900 Marines. After nearly 20 months of deployment, he was rewarded with a move to the Lowcountry, serving his last year of active duty at MCRD-Parris Island, SC.  After completing his active service in 2009, he continued to serve our great country as a Navy Reservist and was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant Commander in 2013.

The Allens moved to Mount Pleasant and opened Allen Family Dentistry in 2009. That same year, they celebrated the birth of the first son and have since added two more Carolina boys to the fold. The Allens are active members of Christ Church Anglican where Dr. Cory currently serves on the Vestry. Dr. Cory enjoys cooking and (part-time) coaching club soccer, as well as woodworking and creating large art pieces when he stumbles into a little free time!

Get to know the Allens

Chelsea B. Allen, DMD

Dr. Chelsea Allen has lived in Illinois, California, Japan, Tennessee, Kentucky, and South Carolina. She spent most of her school years in Los Gatos, California. She graduated from Vanderbilt University with a degree in Psychology with an emphasis on Neuroscience.  After Vanderbilt, she attended dental school at the University of Louisville, School of Dentistry. During those four years, Dr. Chelsea served in various student government positions, including Secretary and Treasurer.  In her senior year, she served as both the dental school Student Body President and President of the Louisville American Student Dental Association. Dr. Chelsea received the Thomas P. Hinman Scholar Award and the International College of Dentists Award at dental graduation. Since graduating, Dr. Chelsea has strived to stay current with new technologies and techniques and has completed over 500 hours of continuing education with an emphasis on implants and cosmetic dentistry.

After graduation, Dr. Chelsea was commissioned in the United States Navy and attended officer training in Newport, RI. She then completed her Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency in the very same building in San Diego where her father was assigned as a Navy Oral Surgeon thirty years earlier. In her residency, she focused on endodontics and cosmetic procedures. At her next duty station in Sasebo, Japan, she worked at the Naval Medical Center in Sasebo, Japan and was the sole dentist running the off-base dental clinic treating Navy sailors and their family members. During that time, she gained a vast amount of experience in pediatric dentistry, orthodontics and complex restorative dentistry. Upon returning to the United States, Dr. Chelsea treated Marine recruits in Parris Island, SC for one year prior to opening her own practice.

In 2009, the Allens moved to Mount Pleasant, opened Allen Family Dentistry, and started a family that now boasts three wonderful boys. She loves seeing her patients for years on end, especially when multiple generations all come to her practice. The Allens have been members of Christ Anglican Church for over 15 years and Dr. Chelsea is active in the women’s Bible studies. She has served as the chairman of the Laing Middle School SIC (School Improvement Council) for the past two years and volunteers frequently at her children’s schools. Dr. Chelsea absolutely loves exploring lakes around the country and sharing her love of waterskiing and boating with her family and friends.
